5-Axis Machining

SIMULTANEOUS 5-AXIS · 18,000 RPM SPINDLES · ±0.0002"

Mazak Variaxis i-700, DMG Mori NMV 5000, and Makino D300 cells running true simultaneous 5-axis at 18,000 RPM. Used for complex aerospace structures. Compressor stators, integrally bladed rotors, gimbals, fuel system housings. Where one-setup machining beats six setups on a 3-axis mill.

Programmed in Mastercam Multi-Axis or NX CAM with Vericut verification before any cycle starts. Renishaw OMP60 probing captures work-offset and tool length on every load. In-process measurement halts the cell on out-of-spec readings. no scrap pile, no surprise NCMRs.

Swiss-Turn

CITIZEN L20 · STAR SR-38 · ø 1 – 32 MM · ±0.0001"

Eight Citizen and Star Swiss-type lathes producing high-volume small-diameter parts in a single chucking. Used heavily for medical implants. Pedicle screws, bone anchors, dental abutments. And for miniature aerospace fluidic components where ID and OD must concentric to a tenth.

Sub-spindle live tooling lets us complete most parts off the machine, ready for passivation. Citizen LFV (Low-Frequency Vibration) cutting handles long, thin titanium and PEEK without chip wrap or surface tearing.

Wire & Sinker EDM

MAKINO U6 H.E.A.T. · MITSUBISHI MV-S · ±0.00008"

Two wire EDMs and three sinker EDMs for hardened tool steels, exotic high-temp alloys, and features that won't yield to a cutter. Standard 0.004" brass wire, down to 0.001" for micro-features. Makino U6 H.E.A.T. extrusion technology cuts Inconel 718 at thirty-plus inches² / hr without recast-layer issues.

Sinker EDM for blind cavities, internal threads in hardened material, and the small-radius geometries that 5-axis can't reach. Graphite electrodes machined in-house on our Makino D300. No shipping graphite blocks back and forth.

Precision Grinding

SURFACE · CYLINDRICAL · ID · OD · ±0.00005"

Surface grinding to a tenth, cylindrical OD grinding for shaft features, and ID grinding for press-fit bores. Used as a finishing operation after heat-treatment when distortion makes hold-to-print impossible by mill alone.

Studer S33 OD grinder pulls cylindrical features in 17-4PH to ±0.00005" at Ra 4 µin. Okamoto ACC-1224 surface grinders handle plates up to 12" × 24" with magnetic and vacuum chucking for thin sections.

Micro-Machining

KERN PYRAMID NANO · 60,000 RPM · ø 0.05 MM TOOLS

Kern Pyramid Nano and Kugler Microgantry micro-mills handle features that aren't even visible to the naked eye. Endoscopic instrument tips, hearing implant components, microfluidic chip masters, and the kind of sub-millimeter geometry that makes a CMM operator squint.

60,000 RPM spindle with sub-micron runout. Tool diameters down to ø 0.05 mm. That's smaller than a human hair. All work inspected on a Keyence IM-7000 optical comparator before it reaches the CMM, because contact probing won't survive features this fine.

Finishing & Coatings

DEBURR · PASSIVATE · ELECTROPOLISH · COATING

Hand deburr per IPC-A-610 Class 3, electropolish to ASTM B912, passivation per AMS 2700 Method 1 or 2 / ASTM A967. All in-house. PVD, anodize Type II/III, and NADCAP-accredited specialty coatings flow to a short list of qualified NADCAP-AC7108 partners. No random shop on the back of a business card.

Dimensional Inspection

ZEISS CONTURA · KEYENCE IM-7000 · AS9102 · ISO 17025

Climate-controlled, vibration-isolated inspection lab. Three Zeiss CMMs with VAST XXT scanning, a Keyence IM-7000 optical comparator, and a Mahr CWM 100 surface roughness profiler. NIST-traceable on every gage block, calibration log open for any AS9100D auditor.

AS9102 Forms 1, 2, and 3 generated through Hexagon Inspire Inspection and signed by our Director of Quality. Not auto-stamped, not delegated to a junior. SPC charts live in the MES and are available to customers through our supplier portal.
