Dr. Sarah Hayes opened the practice in 2009 with one exam room, one nurse, and a stubborn idea: that primary care could still be a relationship. Not a transaction. Not a 12-minute slot. Not a script your doctor reads off a screen while half-listening.
Bakersfield was a town that needed it. Two hospital systems were buying up local practices. New patients were being routed to whichever doctor had openings. Never the same one twice. The math of modern medicine was working for everyone except the people in the exam room.

We added Dr. David Chen for internal medicine in 2014. Dr. Elena Martinez for pediatrics in 2018. Bringing bilingual care that this town needed and didn't have enough of. We turned down four acquisition offers along the way. We renovated the office in 2022 to feel less like a clinic and more like a place you'd actually want to spend thirty minutes.
What hasn't changed: every patient gets a real visit. Every lab gets a real follow-up. Every call gets a real person. And the doctor who saw you last year will be the one who sees you next year.

Every visit is thirty minutes. New-patient visits are forty-five. Your doctor sits down, closes the laptop, and asks what's going on. Then listens.
You pick your physician when you join the practice and you keep them. No randomized roulette. No "whoever has an opening." Continuity is medicine.
Sick visits open every morning at 7am. If you're not feeling well at breakfast, you'll usually be seen before dinner. That's what primary care is for.
We tell you what a visit costs before you arrive. We don't surprise-bill. We don't run tests that aren't useful. We don't refer you to ourselves.
