Our story
Seventeen years of doing primary care the old way.
Dr. Sarah Hayes opened the practice in 2009 with one exam room, one nurse, and a stubborn idea: that primary care could still be a relationship. Not a transaction. Not a 12-minute slot. Not a script your doctor reads off a screen while half-listening.
Bakersfield was a town that needed it. Two hospital systems were buying up local practices. New patients were being routed to whichever doctor had openings. Never the same one twice. The math of modern medicine was working for everyone except the people in the exam room.
"I wanted to be the kind of doctor my own grandmother had. The one who knew her name, her family, and what she was actually worried about."
Dr. Sarah Hayes, founder
We added Dr. David Chen for internal medicine in 2014. Dr. Elena Martinez for pediatrics in 2018. Bringing bilingual care that this town needed and didn't have enough of. We turned down four acquisition offers along the way. We renovated the office in 2022 to feel less like a clinic and more like a place you'd actually want to spend thirty minutes.
What hasn't changed: every patient gets a real visit. Every lab gets a real follow-up. Every call gets a real person. And the doctor who saw you last year will be the one who sees you next year.
That's the entire story. There isn't a corporate parent. There isn't a private equity firm. There's just three doctors, a great staff, and 8,500 families we've gotten the privilege to know.
