A small Portland practice of twelve thoughtful clinicians. Care for anxiety, trauma, couples, and family. In person on NW 23rd and via telehealth statewide.
It was the first place I didn't feel like a chart number.
Client, 2 years in care
We started Inner Compass because we kept watching good therapy get squeezed into fifteen-minute slots. So we built the opposite. Every session here is a full forty-five minutes. Every client is matched with a single therapist who actually has the bandwidth to know them.
Our twelve clinicians work across anxiety, trauma, couples and adolescent care. And we meet weekly to consult on hard cases so you benefit from the whole team, not one person's opinion.
You don't have to be in crisis to come. You just have to want something to change.
Getting started should feel like a conversation, not a clinical intake form. Here's the path from "I'm curious" to your first real session.
Send a short note through the form or call. We'll respond within one business day. Usually faster.
Free 15-minute call with our intake coordinator. We talk through what you're working on and match you with the right therapist.
Your first full session is scheduled. In person or telehealth, whatever fits your life. From here, we go at your pace.
From everyday anxiety to acute trauma, from couples in repair to teens finding themselves. We have clinicians with deep specialty training in each area below.

"I'd tried therapy three times before. Twice I quit because I felt rushed; once because the therapist clearly didn't get me. At Inner Compass it was the first place I didn't feel like a chart number. Two years in, I'm a different person. Quieter on the inside, in a way I didn't know was possible."
We bill insurance directly for in-network clients. Self-pay rates below are flat. No hidden fees, no out-of-network confusion. Sliding scale available for those who need it.
Self-pay rate. With insurance, your copay typically lands between $20–$50.
Longer sessions because couples work needs the time. Insurance coverage varies. We'll check yours up front.
Reduced fee for clients without insurance or facing financial hardship. No paperwork olympics. Just a conversation.
Most people arrive a little nervous. That's normal. Here's exactly what happens so you can stop running scripts in your head.
We start where you want to start. Some people open with the surface thing; others go deep. Both are right.
What modality they lean on, what a typical month of sessions looks like, what they're noticing already.
If the match isn't right, we rematch. No awkwardness, no charge. Most people stay with their first therapist. Some don't. Both are okay.
A simple sense of where we're going next. No worksheets unless you want them.
Our office is on the second floor of a converted craftsman near NW 23rd. Quiet, warm, plant-filled. Free street parking after 4pm and a block from the streetcar.
For clients across Oregon, telehealth removes the drive without compromising the quality. Same 45-minute session, same therapist, just a different room.
