Helio Grid was founded in 2017 by a team that grew up inside the West's largest utilities and ISOs. We started the company because we knew the bottleneck wasn't the panels. It was the development process. So we rebuilt it.
Our four co-founders met at PG&E and Southern California Edison in the early 2010s. Leading resource planning, transmission engineering and renewable procurement. They watched promising solar projects die in the interconnection queue for reasons that had nothing to do with the projects.
So in 2017 they left, raised a Series Seed from Energy Impact Partners, and built Helio Grid around a single thesis: the next decade of clean energy belongs to developers who can navigate the interconnection process as well as they can engineer a plant. Today we hold 4.2 GW in the CAISO and WECC queues, with $1.4 billion of contracted backlog under signed PPAs.
We're still small enough that the founders are in every Monday standup, and the people closing land deals in Inyo County have a direct line to the people who run our operations center in Reno.
